Dental Bridges in St. John's

As the name suggests, a dental bridge can actually bridge the gap between one or more missing teeth. A dental bridge is a dental restoration that consists of two or more crowns and an artificial tooth in the middle that extends across the area with no teeth. The artificial tooth is usually made of gold, alloy, porcelain, ceramic, or metal ceramic materials. In addition, dental bridges are supported by natural teeth or by dental implants, and are permanently placed within the mouth, unlike bridges that are removeable. We offer different types of bridges at Epic Dental including:

• Traditional Bridges: This is the most common type of bridge. It is used if the patient has natural teeth on either side of the missing gap.
• Implant Bridges: These are used if the patient doesn’t have naturally healthy teeth or enough teeth to support the bridge. This type of bridge is also used if the patient has several missing teeth in the same region. Thus, more implants could be used to restore the dentition in conjunction.
• Resin-bonded bridges: Also known as ‘Maryland’ bridges, these are a type of bridge that is used when a patient has missing front teeth.
• Cantilever bridges: These are used if the patient has only healthy natural teeth present on one side of the missing gap.
