Dental Veneers in St. John's

Dental veneers are thin, custom-made, tooth coloured shells intended to cover the front surface of the teeth. Veneers help restore the shape and shade of discolored, chipped, fractured, or smaller than average teeth in a relatively conservative fashion. Dental veneers are usually made from porcelain, ceramic, or resin composite materials, which get permanently bonded to the teeth. Porcelain veneers are the most stain-resistant and imitate the lightness of a natural tooth in your mouth. Dr. Chedella can help you find the right veneer material that will fit your needs and condition.

Dental Veneer Procedure:

The dental veneer process takes about 3 dental visits to our dental office to complete. One visit to Epic Dental for consultation with Dr. Chedella, and two more visits to custom-create and apply the dental veneers to the teeth. The dental veneer procedure is as follows:

  1. Diagnosis and Planning:
This is the first step of the process that involves visiting us at Epic Dental to allow us to examine your teeth and determine whether dental veneer is the right treatment option for you. Dr. Chedella will go over the entire dental veneer procedure so that you know what is to come and also discuss any limitations that may occur during the process. Dr. Chedella may also take X-rays and impression shots of your mouth.
  2. Preparation:
Dr. Chedella will reshape the surface of the tooth, getting it to about the same thickness as the veneer being applied. Dr. Chedella will then take impressions of your teeth. The impressions will be sent to the lab, where the dental veneer will be custom-made. It will take about 2-4 weeks for Dr. Chedella to receive the dental veneer from the lab. In the meantime, Dr. Chedella can put in a temporary veneer for unsightly teeth.
  3. Bonding:
Before the dental veneer gets permanently bonded to your teeth, Dr. Chedella will first place it temporarily on the surface of the tooth to make sure it is the correct colour and size. If the veneer is not as desired, Dr. Chedella will remove, trim, and colour until the size and colour have been adjusted. Once the patient approves of the veneer, Dr. Chedella can then go ahead and clean, polish, and roughen the surface of the tooth to better attach to the dental veneer. Then, Dr. Chedella attaches the veneer and uses a special light beam to it to quickly cure and harden.
